School leadership

Guiding Usher with vision, faith, and purpose

Usher High School is led by a team committed to academic excellence, Christian character, and the holistic development of every learner at Usher High School. Our leadership brings together Salvation Army officers, the Head of School, senior administrators, and department heads who share one goal: to nurture competent, compassionate young people ready to serve God and humanity.

From daily decision-making to long-term planning, school leadership upholds the vision of being a centre of quality education and the mission of providing affordable, values-driven learning through the ZIMSEC curriculum and a supportive boarding community.

Our vision To be a centre of academic excellence and moral integrity, producing well-rounded citizens who serve God and humanity with confidence and purpose.
Our mission To provide quality, affordable education grounded in Salvation Army values, developing learners intellectually, spiritually, physically, and socially.

A message from the Head of School

Welcome to Usher High School, a place where education meets opportunity, faith guides our journey, and every child is cherished. As Head of this institution, I am honoured to lead a community that has served Zimbabwe for more than a century from Usher High School.

We believe in the power of education to transform lives. Our staff work tirelessly to support learners in the classroom, in the dormitories, and on the sports field. Whether preparing for ZIMSEC examinations, developing practical skills, or growing in spiritual maturity, every Usherian is known by name and challenged to reach their potential.

Leadership at Usher is not about titles alone, it is about service, accountability, and setting an example of discipline and compassion. I invite you to visit us, speak with our team, and see for yourself what makes Usher a centre of excellence in quality education.

Administration

The team behind daily school life

School administration ensures that Usher runs smoothly, from admissions and records to finance, discipline, and communication with parents. The bursar's office manages fees and boarding accounts; the school secretary coordinates enquiries and correspondence; and senior administrators support the Head in policy, staffing, and compliance with Ministry of Education requirements.

Effective administration frees teachers to focus on learning and gives families confidence that their children are cared for in a well-organised, transparent institution. Our admin team works closely with Salvation Army officers and department heads to align resources, timetables, and campus operations with the school's vision.

As a Salvation Army school, Usher is governed by officers and staff who lead with prayer, integrity, and a commitment to the gospel of Jesus Christ.

What guides us

Leadership values

These principles shape how we lead, teach, correct, and encourage every member of the Usher community.

Faith

Rooted in God and Salvation Army principles, faith informs our worship, our decisions, and our hope for each learner's future.

Discipline

Clear expectations, consistent standards, and self-control prepare learners for academic success and responsible adulthood.

Service

We give ourselves to others, the school, the corps, and the wider community, following the example of Christ who came to serve.

Excellence

Leaders and learners alike pursue the highest standards in effort, conduct, and achievement, in the classroom and beyond.

Compassion

We respond to one another with patience and kindness, especially in a close boarding community where every child matters.

Accountability

Leaders answer to God, to one another, and to families, acting with honesty, transparency, and responsibility at all times.

Growing leaders

Student leadership at Usher

Usher nurtures the next generation of leaders through prefect bodies, hostel leadership, club captains, and representatives on the Student Representative Council. Senior learners are trained to model discipline, mentor younger boarders, and contribute to school culture with integrity.

Student leaders assist with assembly, sport, worship, and community service, learning that authority is a trust to be exercised with humility. Through Interact, debate, choir, and SASA sport, learners also develop public speaking, teamwork, and the confidence to lead in school and society.
